When the golfing gods smile……

…..its nice that they smile on your winning selection! I had Zach Johnson to win the Crowne  plaza invitational at the weekend courtesy of Steve Palmer who is on absolute fire at the moment. For those that missed it Johnson won a topsy turvy battle with current form player Jason Duffner to eventually win by 3 shots. It must have been superb to trade with four two stroke swings but that was only the start of the fun and games. Johnson had moved his ball mark on the eighteenth and not moved it back before replacing his ball and in doing so incurred a two shot penalty. Worse could have followed- his mistake was spotted quickly which meant that he hadn’t filled in his scorecard before it was pointed out, if he had done so he would have been disqualified and it would have been one hell of 1.01 bust. Not the biggest ever winner at 16/1 but with 3 points each way on it along with Jim Furyk being placed it was a very nice return none the less.

“There are a number of adjectives that I am calling myself right now,” Johnson said. “Lucky would be the biggest one I can think of.”

If I had been watching it I think i might have been adding to that list with “funt” being one 😉

It was a great weekend for Steve Palmer and at one point it looked look it could be a “facespitter” as one of his other picks Justin Rose finished in second place at Wentworth. In fairness I was never that excited about this one as Luke Donald was an absolute machine and didn’t ever trade above evens all day. A deserved world number one in my opinion.

In terms of golf betting it was a fantastic month for me  with Palmers Racing Post selections  netting a fantastic 138 profit for the months , when this is added to a great end of month run by Hugh Taylor (currently 13 points up despite a horrible barren spell in the middle of the month) then things are progressing nicely and again shows the value of having a well documented betting bank to allow you to make informed decisions about various different services……
