Bookies get hammered (?)

I’ve had to laugh the last couple of days with the bookmakers turning to social media to make a huge deal over the fact that for once all the favoured football teams won meaning that the “ACCA” bets so loved by recreational/mug (delete depending on your view) punters actually won. This press release came out before Arsenal won away to Aston Villa last night which I imagine would have added to the so called “pain”. Regular viewers will have seen me talk about “win together and lose on your own “ when it comes to people having a bet (after all who ever heard of anyone proudly boasting that they had £50 […]

Frustrating

So Cheltmas is over for another year and personally I  did as well as could be expected given the time constraints imposed on me by work.  It was slightly frustrating in terms of offers as I could quite easily have doubled the amount of money I  made with a bit of luck with second place refunds just missing out but no harm done. For me the highlights were  definitely William Hills 5 places offer on the Supreme Novices hurdle (in what was effectively a ten runner field) and BetFred taking on Bobs Worth at 4/1 for about twenty minutes early on on Friday morning. If you had a few Freds […]

RONALDO’S RETURN TO SPARK £25 MILLION CHAMPIONS LEAGUE BETTING BONANZA

Never afraid of a bit of hype the bookies are going into overdrive on tonight’s Champions league clash between Manchester United and Real Madrid “The tie is perfectly poised at 1-1 after the first leg, and sees two in-form teams go head to head, while it also has the added spice of Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, as well as Jose Mourinho bidding to end Sir Alex Ferguson’s Champions League hopes once again, and all these factors, combined with terrestrial TV coverage, will ensure this is the biggest betting match of the season so far, with turnover topping £25 million across the industry,” said Coral’s David Stevens. This is […]

F A(ll) Cup

Well those bookmaker Marketing geniuses (see previous posts here) have been hard at work again and this weeks award goes to Coral for this beauty. Double your chances at Coral Back any Premier League team to win this year’s FA Cup and Coral will give you a free bet on a non-Premier League side claiming the historic prize. Wow! Before there is an almighty stampede to try and get your FA Cup outright bets on with them you probably best to be aware of this fact. The last time a team from outside the topflight won was Southampton in 1976. Cardiff (2008) and Millwall (2004) have made the final. Although […]

The Coral BOG

The Bog. You would have thought that its fairly straightforward to use. Most of use would seem to be quite comfortable with how it works. Not our friends at Coral who rather sneakily seemed to have changed the way things work. Have a read of this great piece of marketing bullshit: A headline of “win more every race every day” is just utter nonsense. Most bookies who offer best odds guaranteed (The BOG that I’m referring to) are quite happy to let you place a bet in the knowledge that if the price drifts you will get a better price. Not Coral. You have to uncover it on a tab called […]

Too much to do!!

Wow! I’m not really sure where to start. What I do know is that the bookies seem to have gone completely mental handing out all sorts of offers for Cheltenham and like a teenager with premature ejaculation they couldn’t wait  and have  done it rather early (details here). Coral giving free £50 bets to people betting on horses, Victor Chandler giving away money for betting on the Man United cup game  as well as some nice offers on tomorrows Imperial cup racing means its going to be a long long day in the Blogger household and I will need all the charm at my disposal to keep Mrs Blogger happy. […]
