If anything summed up how out of touch Betfair have become it was surely the tweet that they sent out around 3pm on Saturday afternoon said it all. The site had crashed again (according to Bet Angel this was the third year in a row this has happened just before Cheltenham) and here they were telling us that their newly launched sportsbook was still working! You’ve got to hand it to Ladbrokes for being able to buy Betdaq and at the same time manage to infiltrate the betunfair helpdesk at the same time, as surely no one in their right mind from Betfair would surely think that anyone gives a […]

It certainly was for the Alvaro Arbeloa’s ribs. And it was painful to watch United go out in Europe yet again. The fuss around the Nani sending off  overshadowed the fact that you cannot possibly hope to win matches and progress at the highest level with a 39 year ex winger playing in centre midfield. For me Roy Keane was spot on (Again) in his post match assessment:  “I think the referee has actually made the right call. Everyone’s upset about it and it’s slightly unlucky, but it’s dangerous play. Whether he meant it or not is irrelevant. It’s dangerous play – it’s a red card. You have to be […]

Hooray for the weekend!!

Its weird when you  look forward to the weekend but for completely different reasons to that of everyone around you. Most “normal people” are looking forward to relaxing and doing normal fascinating stuff like going to the garden centre etc (!). We bettors are different and after a week of international football that the perceived wisdom is to stay away from then it represents a welcome return to normality and a busy card (football wise). If your a horses man (not in that sense of the word clearly) then its the start of the flat season and all the excitement that brings. So a really hectic day and one that […]

Glad Vic was there….

Cheltenham. So how was it for you? Not a big horses fan personally but found it all quite exciting which I didn’t really expect. From a personal  financial view point it was a cracker- My best one since records began (that will be since last year then). The number of offers from the bookmakers (especailly on the first couple of days) was excellent and Mrs blogger and I got seriously stuck in. The highlight of the week was undoubtedly  the Cheltenham Gold cup and Victor Chandler offering full refunds if the horse you backed came 2nd or 3rd. With the top four horses all fancied it was a great race […]

“Irish raiders”

Pretty topical huh? Yep if I was clever I would have deliberately timed this piece for St Patricks day (or as its known here in England “an excuse for all the drinks companies to produce all sorts of tacky Irish themed merchandising to try and promote some Guinness sales”, a snappy title which incidentally they may struggle to fit on a beer mat). The fact is that I’ve been run off my feet making some decent money on all the various offers that bookmakers have been throwing at us – more of that another time. Its a long post so strap yourselves in. Anyway I digress, As […]

Too much to do!!

Wow! I’m not really sure where to start. What I do know is that the bookies seem to have gone completely mental handing out all sorts of offers for Cheltenham and like a teenager with premature ejaculation they couldn’t wait  and have  done it rather early (details here). Coral giving free £50 bets to people betting on horses, Victor Chandler giving away money for betting on the Man United cup game  as well as some nice offers on tomorrows Imperial cup racing means its going to be a long long day in the Blogger household and I will need all the charm at my disposal to keep Mrs Blogger happy. […]

… to Cheltenham has started. My inbox has starting filling up nicely with all sorts of offers from bookmakers trying to tempt me and Mrs Blogger to use there services. So far I’ve had nice little offers from Bet Fred Unibet and Betfair (apparently they would like me to start using their casino again). All either cashed in in for some profit or saved up for Cheltenham. I’m also watching some of the racing bookmakers quite closely as they are enhancing prices every day and its a good opportunity to build a book in betfair and potentially benefit from nice arbs without losing a chunk of profit to the exchanges […]
