Four day horse race.

What I hear you say? Has the betting blogger lost the plot ? Nope its how someone once described trading on golf tournaments. The point being that there is plenty of movement in the odds but as it takes place over an extended time frame you have  the opportunity to take  positions and trade in and out of them. The biggest danger is obviously someone someone not making the cut and one bad hole can send the odds soaring however its something I’ve always “dabbled in” but am now going to formalise into my own trial to see if it can pay off. I’ve set up two separate trading banks and will be using the selections of two different services – One is “Fourgolf” which you can find in the blogroll and the other is Birdie golf which is a paid service . My plan here is to back all the selections in the win market and place lays for the same value at approx 40% less than that price to the same stake- this means that if some one get off to good start then I will get my stake back (protect your bank the wise heads always say!). I will then be left with a green on that player and depending on how the rest of the bets are going will depend what profit I take.  All well and good in theory !

One of todays picks was James Morrison at 190 which I backed with £25- heres the graph on what happened to his price on day one. (Wow my first visual on this blog!!!).

(edited as all the numbers disapeared but it was a big price crash- honest!!)

I had placed a lay into the market at 120 to get my stake back – this happened very early on and the price continued to crash until I put another lay in at 34 for another £25.  A double bogey at 17 caused his price to spike dramatically but by then I  had effectively doubled my money. I’m left with a green of  £846.67  ……..

The second pick was David Horsey who I backed at 55. Lay was placed at 36 to get my original stake back and a further one at  11 to again double my money . He is the overnight leader in the club house and while my green on him isn’t quite so dramatic- £175.08 is still nice .

Having worked out how to insert the graphs I’ve now gone mad for them.  Anyway if only it was always this easy!
