Winning together losing on your own….

… is an often repeated manta in the betting industry and one that Ive mentioned a few times in the blog., after all no one ever walked into work and said ” put one hundred pounds on a horse on Saturday and it fell at the first”. Betfair Pro trader is a recent addition to my blog roll and this post sums it up quite nicely. http://www.betfairprotrader.co.uk/2016/06/if-you-must-publish-profit-loss-blog.html . I’d like to think that I’m quite open about how my  escapades into the different markets are faring and recently I’ve noticed that I’ve had a number of questions on the different sports I get involved in. Rather than do one long incredibly boring […]

No LoveMark!

Jason Lovemark stopped the winning run of the Racing Posts Steve Palmer at the weekend when his 1.5ew 80/1 pick managed to get himself into the lead on Sunday night before making a few double bogeys and bottling it. Despite that setback it was another great weekend of golf betting with Jeremy Chapman coming to the party in the form of Jason Duffner  winning at 40/1. Duffner battled it out with David Lingmerth who was a 70/1 selection from Nics picks so it made for very comfortable and enjoyable viewing and meant that Lovemark was soon forgotten about. Bryan who runs NicsPicks is constantly altering his staking pattern and ideas […]

Lucky (Chap)Man

An absolute belter of a tune that still sounds as good today as it did on release in 1998 (a good year for discovering new stuff I seem to recall). Nothing to do with betting apart from the fact its a reverential nod towards a certain Mr Jeremy Chapman who rather inexplicably didn’t manage to get a mention in my last post . 118 points profit in a month is some going and that’s exactly what he has managed to do in a spectacular month. That’s not luck its skill. 38 picks giving 4 winners ( two at 33/1) and 7 places is top top work coming from a service that is […]

Bumper edition

Well where to start…. First off everyone probably saw the BBC 1 series Britain at the Bookies- it raised all sorts of issues that I could probably fill a whole blog with and, in the main was an enjoyable and (reasonably) well balanced look at the industry . I took particular interest in episode two which featured Steve Palmer of Racing Post fame. SP came across as a highly likable individual and to anyone who followed him on twitter a few years back until he was “trolled out” ( have i just invented a new saying?)  that wont be any surprise. What did surprise/shock/horrify  me was his completely amateur approach […]

Chap Still the Man

Long time between posts again and most blogs normally wither and die as they start off in blaze of positivity and then the postings dry up when the profits stop coming in. I’m glad to say that this isn’t the case here (Honest!) but its just that being a (pretty much) full time stay at home Dad whilst juggling part time work, and making money from Betfair etc means that something has to give and unfortunately for my tens of avid readers its normally this blog. Its actually been a cracking few months for the different services I get involved in and a strong 2015 generally. Racing wise Hugh Taylor […]

Mastered

A disappointing Masters from a viewing and betting standpoint as Jordan Speith produced a real master class in short game skills to comfortably hold off the challenge of Justin Rose. One particular moment of brilliance that I thought summed it up was on the 18th on Saturday when he found himself out of position at the back of the green. It looked like it would be a bogey at best yet somehow he got “up and down” holing a wicked 8ft putt. I was in an excellent trading position on Rose with a lovely 4 figure green on him yet he never quite got close enough to lock in any profit and […]

Reed All About It! Palmer lands a 714/1 golf double

I wonder…. I wonder if that will possibly be somewhere on the front of the Racing Post Ipad edition when I download it tonight. I also wonder if should also carry on being critical of his tipping ability as it certainly didn’t do me any harm this week! I didn’t watch any of the golf this weekend as I’ve still not moved back home but it would have been fascinating to see some of the in running prices from Betfair on the final day. Andrew Sullivan started the last day 7 shots behind Charl Schwartzel going into the final day  and made up that difference to force a play off which he […]

New years golf

Another lengthy interval between blog posts and much to write about and bore people with. However before I do that and update the  handful of people remotely interested in my life  I thought I’d share some stats on the previous years golf. I did the same thing last year and the results can be found here. So, as avid listeners will no doubt be aware I follow 2 golf betting tipsters Steve Palmer from the Racing Post  and Bryan Nicholson from the Nicspicks website . To all intents and purposes they are both free, the Racing Post costs me £1.99 when I download it on my ipad on a Wednesday night (Note to […]

Back on the Rollercoaster

Cant believe its been more than a month since the last post but unfortunately for my legions of avid listeners I’m still here! The lack of posting has been purely and simply down to a lack of time- after becoming a dad 10 months ago I’m now in charge of Junior some days with Mrs Blogger returning to work. Hats off to any single parents out there as looking after a young child ,who is just discovering the word is a 100% full time job. At the moment everything in the house apparently  to be tested to see whether its edible! A current  speciality is playing with my iphone (harmless […]

Ladbrokes Profits

I had to smile to myself when I opened the Ipad edition of the racing post tonight looking for the golf selections (not there – how difficult can it be?) Ladbrokes profits are down 33.7% on the figure for 2014 compared with the figure for 2013 which equates to something like £30 million, and this is despite them supposedly having a good World Cup. Compare this to Bet 365 who reported an increase by 81.5% . ok Bet 365 haven’t got  a retail arm but you can see they are worlds apart. Ladbrokes really are woeful in so many areas. My experience of betting over the counter with them at […]
